Porto | Friday, July 3 – Monday, July 6
Your journey begins in Porto, with guests arriving by 3:00 PM on Friday, July 3. No daytime activities are scheduled, allowing time to settle in, unwind, and prepare for the celebration ahead.

Farewell Dinner & 60th Birthday Celebration | Wednesday, July 8
The pinnacle of the week is the Farewell Dinner & 60th Birthday Celebration, hosted by the ladies of LX Timeless– an evening of elegance that honors six decades of friendship, and moments you’ll be talking about long after returning home.
Main Program Departure: Thursday, July 9
If flying out of Lisbon, you need to build in at least 3 hours for check in at the Lisbon Airport.
Optional Algarve Extension:
Guests will depart Portugal on Thursday, July 9. However, those looking to extend the celebration may opt into a 2 -night Algarve add-on supplement. Known for its golden beaches, turquoise waters, and coastal luxury, the Algarve offers the perfect way to unwind and savor Portugal’s most breathtaking seaside scenery before returning home.
Algarve 2 – Night Add-on Supplement features:
- Luxury hotel accommodations
- Roundtrip private motorcoach transportation to and from Lisbon
- Upon departure from the Algarve, guests will be transported directly to Lisbon (LIS) Airport for return flights.
(Due to the approximately three-hour travel time, return flights should be planned accordingly. You need to build in at least 3 additional hours for check-in at the airport.)

A Tradition Born at Howard - Grown Over Decades
It all began our sophomore year at Howard University. Four of us hosted a birthday party to celebrate turning 18—young, bold, and full of possibility. What we didn’t know then was that we were planting the seed for a tradition that would span decades.
Fast forward to age 40. At Homecoming, we reunited for our first official milestone celebration at a small bar on U Street. Seventeen of us came together under the theme “40 Y.O.”—a playful nod to Janet Jackson’s 20 Y.O. album and her birth year. Many of us had lived in the same dorms, been roommates, known each other since freshman year, or even grown up together. The bond was real, and the energy was undeniable.
Five years later, we took it up a notch.
For XLV, we moved the celebration to the Thompson Hotel with a guest-list-only experience. We expanded the circle—welcoming our male friends as co-hosts and adding a few more hostesses. The theme tied perfectly to the 45th year of the Super Bowl, and the result was unforgettable. With over 500 guests, the party hit capacity, and the line wrapped around the door.
As we approached 50, now known as 5.0, the buzz was already out.
This time, we raised the bar again with legendary hip-hop icon Biz Markie as our celebrity DJ, alongside our Howard Bison brother, the Legendary DJ Chris Washington and special appearance from Howard University President Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick. Once again, the venue was packed—over 500 guests, lines around the block, and another iconic celebration added to the legacy.
Another milestone. Another unforgettable night.
And the tradition continues.

I attended Howard University, which in our minds, holds the uniquely best H.B.C.U. homecoming that ever existed. Once we turned 40, a group of my 20 closest friends and I gave a joint birthday party to celebrate our milestone during one homecoming weekend. (We also held a party for our 45th, as well as for our 50th.) Our parties are invite only and are free, and we still have a line wrapped around outside the door.
